ABOUT THE COURSE
The InDesign Desktop Publishing Certificate course is a 6-day hands-on training programme that shows participants how to use some of the common tools and features of InDesign to produce engaging designs and publications. The course will expose learners to the principles of desktop publishing and graphic design such as fonts and typography, including colour scheme, measurement, resize and crop images for your documents.

Creating a new newsletter or brochure,
What are spreads pages
Setting up Master Page
Adding automatic page numbering
Removing a master page and deleting parts off the master page
What is Effective PPI & Image resolution in the links panel
How to add drop shadows to an image or logo
The use of TypeKit
DAY II:
How to add the Copyright, Registered & Trademark symbols
Using different versions of letters in Ligatures
Adding placeholder text and lorem ipsum
Using the word count feature
Importing Text document and retaining or discarding the formatting
Creating Columns in a text box
Justifying text and turning off hyphenation
Setting up line spacing and leading
DAY III:
How to underline text with a full width line
How to create paragraph style and update it
Using Find and Change to remove double spaces after a period or full stop
How to use colours format painter
Placing long continuous text into a publication
Importing paragraph styles from another document
How to insert completely blank pages
How to create a gradient
DAY IV:
How to use layers
Using opacity, water marks and transparency effects
Adding rounded corners to an image or box
How to add Drop Cap
Creating text wrap around an image or shape
How to draw an arrow or triangle or star
Cropping an image or shapes like a circle
Where can I find free images & icons that I can use for my business?
DAY V:
Adding bullets and numbered lists in a publication
Creating a table and convert tables from Microsoft Word or Excel
Creating a Line Break, Column Breaks and Page Breaks
Creating an automatic table of contents
Setting ruler and tabs in a publication
Changing page numbering so 1 starts later

PREREQUISITES
You will need a copy of Adobe InDesign CC.
No prior knowledge or experience design skills or use of InDesign are needed.
Requirements
An application (such as Google Meet) is required to participate in the programme and for writing your assignments you must have a Gmail account. If you don't already have any of these, you will be provided sources for free, user friendly applications.
